This was announced by Education Secratary Diosdado San Antonio to reporters via viber app. Last month, the department of education announced that they are proposing to extend the school year whil shortening the summer vacation of students from 2 months into 2 weeks.

Critics from different social media platforms have voiced out their opinions and concerns about the proposal of teh department of education. Obviosly, most of the critics are composed of educators, parents and students.¬†Among these critics are from organizations that support and empower students and teachers. The Kabataan Partylist gave theri statement that the DepEd’s proposal would not resolve the issues regarding distance learning.

Other organization like Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) devised other plans such as reducing the workloads of both teachers and the students since the proposed curriculum by the department of education (DepEd) is not sustainable because of the economic and health challenges brought by this pandemic.
